TYPA (formerly the Estonian Print and Paper Museum) is currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to support the printing of a limited letterpress edition of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The text will be cast on a Soviet version of the Linotype machine and pages printed on a Victoria Polygraph cylinder press from the 1970s.
Four versions of the book are available on Indiegogo: a machine-bound letterpress edition, a hand-bound letterpress edition, a gift edition (includes a letterpress printed custom dedication set by hand), and a hands-on edition where backers are invited to the studio to participate in the production. A limited number of books will be printed and bound on-demand and orders can be placed on Indiegogo until November 10th.
The aim of the project is to practice and preserve the intangible heritage connected to letterpress printing and bookbinding techniques and to support the activities of TYPA.
